Culture at MSCNI

At MSCNI, we believe sport and culture go hand in hand. We are proud to celebrate the vibrant cultural diversity within our communities, using sport as a powerful tool to connect, empower, and inspire.

Heritage Connect: Celebrating Black History Month

Each year, we host the Heritage Connect Sports and Cultural Exchange Festival as a cornerstone of our cultural programming. This dynamic event celebrates Black History Month and brings communities together through shared experiences in sport, art, music, and storytelling.

In partnership with Ulster Sports and funded by Ulster University, Heritage Connect shines a light on the rich cultural heritage of the African and Caribbean diaspora in Northern Ireland. The festival features a blend of:

  • Sporting activities and exhibitions
  • Live performances and cultural showcases
  • Panel discussions and educational workshops
  • Family-friendly activities and food from around the world

A Platform for Unity and Representation

Our goal is to provide a platform for cultural expression while promoting inclusivity, mental and physical well-being, and intercultural dialogue. Heritage Connect is not just a festival—it’s a movement toward a more inclusive sporting and social environment for all.

Whether you’re an athlete, artist, student, or community member, there’s something for everyone at MSCNI’s culture-led events. Together, we’re building bridges through sport and culture—one celebration at a time.
